Snoop Dogg has dropped a new children’s song titled “Love Is Love” in support of the LGBTQ+ community — check it out above.
Released on Thursday (October 16) in honor of Spirit Day, the track was created in collaboration with former The Voice contestant Jeremy Beloate and developed in partnership with LGBTQ+ advocacy organization GLAAD.
During a chat between Snoop and Beloate, the rap icon shared what inspired the uplifting tune.
“It’s a beautiful thing that kids can have parents from all walks of life and be shown love — to truly learn what love means,” Snoop said. “Whether it’s two fathers, two mothers, or any kind of family, love is the key.”
“It’s teaching parenthood. It’s teaching real-life situations that kids all over the world are facing right now — but in a beautiful way, through song, dance, and melody,” Snoop explained. “It’s all about helping them better understand how we live and why we live the way we do. I feel like this music serves as a beautiful bridge to create understanding.”
“These are things kids wonder about,” he continued. “So hopefully, this helps answer some of those questions and allows them to live happily and realize that love is love.”
The song, featured in an episode of Snoop’s animated series Doggyland, delivers a powerful message about acceptance, with lyrics emphasizing that love is universal. “Our parents are different / No two are the same / But the one thing that’s for certain is the love won’t change,” the characters sing.
Interestingly, the track arrives not long after Snoop admitted he was caught off guard by a same-sex relationship scene in Pixar’s Lightyear. The rapper said it “threw [him] for a loop” because he didn’t know how to explain to a child how two women could have a baby together.
During an appearance on the It’s Giving podcast, he recounted taking his grandson to see the movie. “Papa Snoop, how does she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman,” the child reportedly asked.
“I didn’t come here for this shit,” Snoop said on the podcast, recalling the moment. “I just came to watch the goddamn movie.”
“So now it’s like, damn, I’m scared to go to the movies,” he joked. “They’re throwing me into conversations I don’t even have answers for.”
