As reported by Hot 97, midway through their performance, Brandy turned to Monica with heartfelt admiration, praising her onstage. “Your voice sounds crazy good,” Brandy told her co-headliner — a moment of genuine respect that set a powerful tone for the rest of the show.
The moment of support carried even deeper meaning following Monica’s recent health scare. Just two weeks before the tour began, she revealed during an Instagram Live that she had been diagnosed with temporary paralysis in her right vocal cord. “I thank God for where I am because we found out…that my right cord has temporary paralysis,” Monica shared, with Brandy sitting beside her.
Brandy expressed empathy, admitting she couldn’t imagine what Monica had been “going through vocally.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, vocal cord paralysis happens when nerve impulses to the larynx are disrupted, preventing the muscles from moving — a condition that can affect not only singing but also speaking and even breathing.
Despite the diagnosis, Monica told fans she was just grateful to “get the songs out,” vowing to give her best on stage — and she did exactly that.
