6ix9ine says Nicki Minaj wanted to keep filming their music video even after a bullet struck her dressing room back in 2018.
“The director of production called it off,” 6ix9ine said during an appearance on the Fresh & Fit podcast. “If I’m lying, I’m flying. Clip this. After the shots went off, Nicki called and was like, ‘N***a still, let’s shoot that shit.’”
6ix9ine later doubled down on his story, saying Nicki “was like, ‘I don’t give a fuck.’”
Back in November 2018, a video shoot featuring 6ix9ine, Nicki Minaj, and Ye at a Beverly Hills property was abruptly shut down after gunfire erupted. Witnesses reported hearing “at least 10 shots.”
Surveillance footage obtained by TMZ showed two vehicles pulling up to the home around 10:30 p.m. Two hooded men exited—one from each car—and after scanning the area, one said, “We got 30 seconds,” to which the other replied, “OK.” Moments later, they began firing over a wall after failing to get through a locked gate.
At least one bullet pierced a window and struck Minaj’s dressing room, though she wasn’t on set at the time.
Despite the chaos—believed to have been aimed at 6ix9ine—Nicki didn’t let the incident stop her from collaborating with him again. In 2020, the pair reunited for “Trollz,” donating a portion of the song’s proceeds and merch sales to the Bail Fund Inc.
“The fund provides free bail assistance to low-income individuals who can’t afford to pay bail while awaiting their trial,” Minaj wrote on Instagram at the time.
