Attorney Tyrone Blackburn, who represents the man suing Fat Joe for millions, has been indicted on assault charges.
According to TMZ, Blackburn was officially indicted after allegedly striking a 66-year-old process server with his car in New York City back in May. The process server was reportedly trying to deliver legal papers related to Fat Joe’s case when the incident occurred.
When Blackburn noticed the man, he allegedly reversed his vehicle and hit him in the leg. The victim later claimed he required major knee surgery because of the injury. Blackburn was arrested in June, a month after the incident.
Blackburn’s client, Terrance “T.A.” Dixon, filed a $20 million lawsuit against the Bronx rapper in June, accusing him of “coercive labor exploitation, financial fraud, sexual manipulation, violent intimidation, and psychological coercion.” The lawsuit also alleged that Fat Joe engaged in sex acts with minors and was involved in money laundering.
Dixon, who said he worked with Fat Joe for 16 years, claimed he served as more than just a hype man—contributing as a writer and background vocalist on songs like “Congratulations,” “Ice Cream,” and “Money Over Bitches”—but was never properly compensated.
Fat Joe’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, has denied the allegations, calling the lawsuit “full of lies intended to damage his reputation and force a settlement through public pressure.”
