Nas and Resorts World New York City Pledge $2 Million to Support Construction of The Hip Hop Museum

Nas and Resorts World New York City have announced a joint $2 million investment to help fund the construction of the Hip Hop Museum in the Bronx.

The news was shared during the museum’s 2nd Annual Benefit Gala earlier this month.

“Building this Hip Hop Museum is something our culture has needed for a long time,” Nas said in a statement. “It’s powerful to see a space being created to preserve that history and to educate and inspire the next generation. Being able to contribute alongside Resorts World to help bring this vision to life is an honor. This museum stands as a reminder of where we came from, and a celebration of everything Hip Hop continues to be.”

The Hip Hop Museum is set to open next year, with a mission to “sit at the intersection between an appreciation of Hip Hop’s past and the need to always innovate and contribute something to its future,” according to a press release.

This announcement follows Nas’ recent win in securing a proposal to build a casino in Queens alongside Resorts World Casino — a massive $5.5 billion expansion project that made headlines in September. The partnership notably saw Nas edging out Jay-Z for the bid.

“The future is not something you wait for,” Nas said in the video unveiling the collaboration. “It’s something you build… We’re committed to Queens, and in Queens, the future is now.”
