Miguel recently opened up about his love for psychedelics, particularly magic mushrooms — and says he enjoys taking them outdoors.
The R&B star, who just dropped his new album CAOS, sat down with Bootleg Kev for a new interview where he was asked to share stories about his best and worst psychedelic trips.
“We love psychedelics,” Miguel said around the 29:45 mark, adding that his experiences have been “mostly good trips.”
“The best ones are always outside,” he continued. “Either by water or with that forest kind of vibe. Maybe not deep in the forest, but when the sky’s open and you’re surrounded by trees — you’re just like, ‘Wow, we really are one.’”
He went on to explain, “There’s something real about shrooms and psychedelics — that feeling of everything being one. There’s this sense of oneness. I don’t know, it’s just something really special. Never had a bad trip, though.”
But while Miguel’s psychedelic experiences have all been positive, he admitted weed hasn’t treated him the same way.
“I’ve had some bad trips,” he confessed. “They always end with me crying over some bullshit.” One of those bad experiences came from an edible. “I was like under a car, hiding… That’s one you just have to ride out,” he said.
On Thursday (October 23), Miguel dropped CAOS, his first studio album in eight years. The 12-track project features only one guest appearance — from the legendary George Clinton. His last studio album was War & Leisure in 2017, followed by two EPs: Te Lo Dije in 2019 and Art Dealer Chic 4 in 2021.
