Jay-Z just scored a legal victory in the long-running paternity dispute with Rymir Satterthwaite, who has spent years insisting that the rapper is his biological father.
Lillie Coley, Satterthwaite’s former legal guardian, recently filed for a temporary restraining order as part of the case, accusing Jay-Z’s team of trying to sanction her “as a form of retaliation.” The restraining order would have halted any efforts to enforce sanctions against her, which Coley claims were only pursued because she’s been advocating for Satterthwaite since his mother’s passing.
According to court documents ,District Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett denied the restraining order request, allowing Jay-Z to move forward with his attempt to sanction Coley for what his legal team described as “decades-long harassment.” Coley has repeatedly accused the rapper of avoiding DNA testing that could confirm or disprove paternity.
The judge’s decision came shortly after Satterthwaite dropped a separate paternity lawsuit against Jay-Z. The billionaire mogul has consistently denied the claims, calling them baseless. Back in 2022, both Satterthwaite and Coley were barred from filing new lawsuits in New Jersey following multiple failed attempts to take the matter to court.
“I have not stopped my fight,” Satterthwaite said earlier this year after withdrawing his case. “I did withdraw my case, but it’s for a reason. It’s not because I’m stopping it or I’m going to refile. It’s just a lot going on behind closed doors […] I have not gotten any DNA test. I have not gotten a settlement. It is not over.”
