Rauw Alejandro Admits He Spent ‘Months’ Crying Over Canceled Tour, Cuts Ties With ‘Disorganized’ Management

Rauw Alejandro opened up about the emotional toll he faced after having to cancel several shows from his tour.

In a new interview with Billboard published Monday (Oct. 27), the Puerto Rican artist reflected on his 2023 Saturno World Tour, which grossed over $50 million before its Latin American leg was scrapped due to technical and logistical problems. The European leg also ran into similar setbacks that led to additional cancellations.

“For me, it was very frustrating not completing the Saturno tour. I’m not going to lie: There were months that I would cry in my shower, in my bed, fucking frustrated because I put so much effort into what I do,” he told the outlet. “I took my time. I trained a lot. There were many things that were out of my control.”

Following the tour’s collapse, Alejandro decided to cut ties with his longtime manager, Eric Duars, whose company, Duars Live, produced the tour.

“My old team was a mess and disorganized. I consider myself one of the best artists right now, so I want to work with the best teams in the industry,” he explained.

The 32-year-old singer has since joined forces with co-manager Jorge “Pepo” Ferradas—who has worked with Shakira—along with his longtime collaborators Matías Solaris and José “Che” Juan Torres.

“After having the same management for seven, eight years, it was a big change in the dynamic of my work and definitely challenging,” Alejandro shared. “I was kind of scared because there were things I didn’t know how to do. But now, it feels great to have a team that believes in you and your project. They’re not afraid to lose anything; they just want an artist who can create and bring something new to the table.”

The singer is now headlining his Broadway-inspired Cosa Nuestra World Tour, which has cemented his status as one of the first Latin artists to perform three consecutive sold-out shows at Los Angeles’ Intuit Dome, along with multiple-night stops in Chicago, New York, and Miami.

“It was tough putting this tour together,” he admitted. “I like to wait for people to listen to the album and see how they respond before creating the show rundown — which songs I’ll drop from my old catalog, which new ones I’ll include. It’s a lot of planning to make everything flow smoothly and feel right, and that takes time.”

Rauw Alejandro’s Cosa Nuestra Tour is set to wrap up on November 19 in Monterrey, Mexico.
