Valkyrae is considering stepping away from Twitch after admitting the platform makes her feel “gross.”
During a recent stream on Sunday, the popular creator shared that she’s thinking about returning to YouTube instead, following a string of troubling Twitch controversies.
Her comments came amid several scandals linked to the platform — including streamer Emiru’s assault at TwitchCon and abuse allegations against her ex-boyfriend, Mizkif. The drama also follows the 48-hour bans of streamers Nina Lin and Zoe Spencer after a 2024 clip resurfaced showing them assaulting FaZe Silky’s assistant.
“It’s been a wild week, you guys. It’s been crazy. It makes me feel like streaming is so gross,” Valkyrae said around the seven-minute mark of her stream. “I feel like because I’m a streamer, it’s just gross.”
She continued, “A part of me is like, I just want to quit streaming on Twitch and only be on YouTube again. It just feels gross. I feel gross being around it, being associated with it, being in the eyes of some crazy people. I’m not sure things are going to change for the better.”
Despite her frustrations, Valkyrae admitted she can’t completely walk away from streaming. “This is the first time I’ve actually considered just getting off the internet. But I can’t. I have employees to take care of,” she explained.
Addressing Emiru’s situation, she added, “It’s a mess. It’s very messy. It sucks. It just sucks. I feel so bad for Emiru. I just feel like the streaming space sucks. It’s embarrassing. I don’t even want to be a streamer anymore.”
