Weddings can sometimes feel predictable—but a recent Lord of the Rings-themed ceremony in New Zealand proved to be anything but, thanks to an unexpected guest: Frodo Baggins himself.
In a heartwarming video shared Tuesday (Oct. 28) on TikTok by the team behind the Hobbiton Movie Set experience, actor Elijah Wood surprised a Tolkien-loving couple right in the middle of their ceremony at the iconic site.
For the uninitiated, the Hobbiton Movie Set is a popular tourist destination that recreates The Shire—the cozy, picturesque home of Frodo and his fellow hobbits from both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films.
Wood’s surprise entrance sparked a chorus of “Oh my God!” from stunned guests as he jogged over to the couple for a few photos, with the iconic Shire music playing softly in the background.
“This is amazing, and everyone’s dressed as hobbits,” Wood told the couple, who happily thanked him for taking the time to be part of their special day.
Adding a touch of humor to the wholesome moment, one guest shouted, “He’s smaller than I thought!”
Moments later, the Yellowjackets and The Monkey star waved goodbye and slipped away just as quickly as he appeared. On TikTok, fans flooded the comments with jokes and fittingly Frodo-inspired reactions when someone asked why Wood happened to be in the area that day.
Speaking of unique wedding venues, it’s worth mentioning the couple who recently tied the knot. Fittingly for the Las Vegas setting, an Elvis impersonator officiated the ceremony—complete with a lively rendition of “All Shook Up” that had both the newlyweds and the crowd smiling from ear to ear.
