As Justin Bieber grows his Twitch community, he’s admitting that some of the negative comments have started to affect him.
The SWAG II singer kicked off his streaming journey last week, giving fans a peek into his daily life with behind-the-scenes moments featuring friends and studio sessions. But according to Bieber, not everyone thinks he’s truly enjoying the process. On Monday night (October 27), the Grammy winner opened up to his crew, saying that streaming feels “vulnerable as hell.”
“People who just feel shitty about themselves project and then they write me nasty things,” he explained. “It’s already hard enough to put yourself out there.”
One comment in particular stuck with him after he streamed a basketball game while feeling “exhausted as hell.” “They were like, ‘Justin’s not as exuberant. He’ll never be his exuberant self ever again,’” he recalled. “‘He lost his charisma.’ I was like, ‘What?’”
Bieber explained that he was just “tired” during the stream and paying attention to his friends as they talked about “emotional things.”
“Then I started getting in my head, like, Did I lose my charisma [and] exuberance?” he admitted. “I have a zest for life—it just sucks [that] you can have a million people say the nicest things, and the one comment…”
Despite the criticism, Bieber says he’s committed to streaming regularly and has kept fans engaged by touching on topics like infidelity and a past disagreement with his wife’s doula.
Before sharing so openly on Twitch, the singer had already been candid on Instagram, where he posted multiple reflections about his mental health.
