Kim Kardashian stirred controversy after saying she believes the 1969 U.S. moon landing was faked.
The reality star made the claim in a clip from Thursday’s (October 30) episode of The Kardashians. Once NASA’s Acting Administrator Sean Duffy caught wind of her comments, he quickly responded on X.
“Yes, @KimKardashian, we’ve been to the Moon before… 6 times!” Duffy wrote. “And even better: @NASAArtemis is going back under the leadership of @POTUS. We won the last space race and we will win this one too.”
Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin famously became the first astronauts to walk on the moon on July 20, 1969.
Duffy also attached the clip from The Kardashians episode where Kim makes the remark while chatting with actress Sarah Paulson. The two are set to star together in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming legal drama series, All’s Fair.
“I’m sending you, like, so far, a million articles — interviews — with both Buzz Aldrin and… the other one,” Kim Kardashian told Sarah Paulson, referring to the late Neil Armstrong.
“This girl says, ‘What was the scariest moment?’ And [Aldrin] goes, ‘There was no scary moment, ’cause it didn’t happen. It could’ve been scary, but it wasn’t, ’cause it didn’t happen,’” Kardashian continued.
The reality star went on to say that Aldrin’s recent remarks, paired with his age, have made her question whether the Apollo 11 mission actually occurred. “I think it didn’t happen,” she said. Paulson remained neutral, telling Kim she planned to “go on a serious deep dive” into the topic herself.
Kardashian later doubled down while speaking to a producer, saying, “I don’t think we did. I think it was fake,” adding that Aldrin “says it all the time now, in interviews.”
