Fans online are having a blast linking the Los Angeles Dodgers’ World Series win over the Toronto Blue Jays to the never-ending cultural rivalry between Kendrick Lamar and Drake.
After the Dodgers edged out the Blue Jays 5-4 in Game 7 on Saturday (Nov. 1), social media immediately turned its attention to Drake — who was spotted at Toronto’s Rogers Centre — making him the centerpiece of fresh “Drake curse” jokes.
Drizzy quickly became the butt of countless memes, with fans clowning him for taking an “L” in both the rap beef and, by association, the World Series.
Here are some of the memes:
Fox added fuel to the fire by posting a photoshopped image of Kendrick Lamar grinning from the driver’s seat of a car next to the World Series trophy, smoke swirling in the background. Standing behind the car was Drake, arms crossed, while the words “THEY NOT LIKE US” were emblazoned across the ground in bold letters.
The Dodgers’ official account couldn’t resist jumping in on the fun, posting a celebratory group photo with the caption, “THEY STILL NOT LIKE US.”
Meanwhile, Drake is facing more serious headlines after being named in a class action lawsuit alongside streamer Adin Ross and Sweepstakes Limited, the parent company of online casino Stake. The suit accuses them of “deceptive business practices.”
Filed by New Mexico residents Nathaniel Torres and Rory Michie, the complaint alleges the two lost money gambling through Stake.us — which they describe as a “virtual clone” of Stake.com — and claim the platform falsely promotes itself as a “social casino.” The filing argues that Stake violated New Mexico’s gambling and consumer protection laws, as all forms of online gambling are banned in the state.
The lawsuit further claims that Stake’s “free play” marketing targets minors and individuals struggling with gambling addiction, and that Drake and Ross promoted the sites “under deeply fraudulent pretenses,” allegedly gambling with “house money” provided by the company.
A spokesperson for Stake responded by saying the company will “vigorously defend this and all such claims,” while Ross dismissed the allegations as “fucking bullshit.” Drake has not yet commented.
Torres and Michie are seeking to recover their losses and secure restitution for others affected in New Mexico.
