Soulja Boy and Kandi Burruss recently shared that T.I. played a key role in squashing their short-lived feud sparked by remarks made during her podcast.
While appearing on Burruss’ Speak On It podcast, the two opened up about how they managed to move past the drama. When Burruss mentioned that T.I. acted as their mediator, Soulja Boy confirmed it and explained how the Atlanta rapper stepped in to make peace. “He called my phone and we talked,” Soulja Boy said around the 11:30 mark.
After Soulja Boy admitted he was upset that Kandi Burruss hadn’t called to verify her guest’s claims about him, he shared that T.I. helped him see things differently. According to Soulja, Tip told him that Burruss didn’t personally know him, so she wasn’t obligated to reach out.
“I shouldn’t have been that mad at you because you didn’t know what that person was going to say,” Soulja later told Burruss.
The tension began late last month after Burruss interviewed former cameraman Charlie Rocket, who claimed that Soulja Boy spat in his food during a 2007 incident.
“Soulja Boy called me to his room. We’re staying at the Bellagio and he wanted to make a really viral video,” Rocket recalled. “He said, ‘Come to my room. I’m about to order some room service,’ and he ordered $1,000 worth of room service. When he was done, there was so much food left over. I was excited. I saw some chicken fingers and I was like, ‘Can I get those?’ ‘Cause I’m hungry, I’m really really hungry.”
Rocket alleged that Soulja told him, “have whatever you want,” before spitting on the food. He added that he’d never experienced anything like that before but chalked it up to Soulja being a teenager at the time, saying he “was just a kid.”
Soulja Boy denied the story in an explicit Instagram rant, during which he called Burruss “bald-headed.”
But after reportedly speaking with T.I., Soulja took a more reflective approach, sharing an apology video online.
“They said you gon’ need to apologize to Kandi. I’m sending out an apology to Kandi, man, you know what I’m saying?” he said. “You know I be overreacting sometimes. I just be seeing stuff on the internet … But much love to Kandi, if you could find it in your heart to accept my apology.”
He added, “I just be getting so mad … Folks lying on me and shit, but they’re like, ‘Man, he should’ve got mad at the dude, you shouldn’t got mad at her.’”
