Despite reports claiming Millie Bobby Brown accused her Stranger Things co-star David Harbour of “bullying” on set, the two appeared to put those rumors to rest at the Hollywood premiere of the show’s final season.
Photos and videos from the Stranger Things 5 premiere — which will debut in three waves from Nov. 26 through Dec. 31 — show Harbour and Brown smiling and laughing together as they walked the red carpet. At one point, Brown even chuckled as Harbour cracked jokes with photographers, hinting that talk of tension between them might have been nothing more than speculation.
In Stranger Things, Millie Bobby Brown plays Eleven, the adopted daughter of David Harbour’s character, Jim Hopper. Recent claims suggested that Brown accused Harbour—who’s also been in the spotlight due to his ex-wife Lily Allen’s new album—of bullying and harassment on set. Neither Harbour nor Brown have addressed the allegations, but the show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers, have firmly denied them.
“Obviously, you understand I can’t get into personal on-set matters, but I will say we’ve been doing this for 10 years with this cast, and at this point they’re family and we deeply care about them,” Ross Duffer told The Hollywood Reporter. “So, you know, nothing matters more than just having a set where everyone feels safe and happy.”
Executive producer and director Shawn Levy also commented on the controversy, emphasizing that the team takes any accusations of bullying very seriously.
“At the end of the day, that’s the job,” Levy said. “You have to create a respectful workplace where everyone feels comfortable and safe, and we made sure to build that kind of environment. We’re proud of that. … I’ve seen a lot of stories out there, and they range from completely inaccurate to just plain noise. But the truth is, we see this cast and crew as family, and respect has always been the foundation of everything we do.”
