King Harris is confident that his dad, T.I., could hold his own against some of rap’s biggest names in a battle.
During a chat with comedian and podcaster Ty Duncan on Trippin With Ty, which aired Tuesday (November 11), King spoke highly of his father’s legacy around the 38-minute mark, calling T.I. a “different breed” in the rap game.
“It takes a lot to be doing that shit for so long,” King told Duncan. “That n***a could drop a hit album to this day.”
After praising T.I.’s lyricism, wordplay, and delivery, King singled out Lil Wayne as the only artist who could truly go toe-to-toe with his dad. The two rap icons previously joined forces on tracks like “Swagga Like Us” and “Wit Me.”
Duncan also brought up Jeezy’s name during the conversation, but King Harris didn’t hesitate to say that his dad would easily outshine the Thug Motivation 101 rapper.
“I mean it would be a good battle, but he’s going to beat Jeezy,” Harris said. “He’ll beat Jeezy and Gucci [Mane] together.”
When asked what songs T.I. could unleash in a battle, King listed some of his father’s biggest hits, including “Live Ya Life,” “Swagga Like Us,” and “Blurred Lines.”
“You got to look at all this shit when you say Tip. You know what I’m saying? It’s a mean catalog,” he said confidently.
While some might see King’s claims as a bit of a reach, it’s clear he’s come a long way from the days when he likened his relationship with T.I. to the tense father-son dynamic between Ghost and Tariq on Power.
