Ice Spice is getting ready for her first-ever voice acting role in the upcoming SpongeBob SquarePants movie.
Ahead of the film’s December 19 release, the trailer for The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants dropped on Thursday (November 13), with the Y2K rapper making a splash as a fish who works at Bikini Bottom High School. Her track “Big Guy” also pops up in the trailer as part of the movie’s soundtrack.
“Don’t make me call security,” Ice’s character warns in the clip, rocking an Annie-inspired wig that mirrors the rapper’s signature look.
This marks Ice’s second film role of the year, following her appearance in Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest.
The fourth SpongeBob movie also brings back longtime Nickelodeon cast members, including Tom Kenny, who has voiced SpongeBob for more than 25 years, along with George Lopez, Regina Hall, Sherry Cola, and others.
“Desperate to be a big guy, SpongeBob sets out to prove his bravery to Mr. Krabs by following The Flying Dutchman — a mysterious swashbuckling ghost pirate — on a seafaring comedy-adventure that takes him to the deepest depths of the deep sea, where no Sponge has gone before,” the film’s synopsis explains.
Ice is a fitting addition to the project, especially since her 2023 hit “Bikini Bottom” was inspired by the show’s iconic underwater city. The track’s production by RIOTUSA also pulled from the classic cartoon’s signature sound.
