Demi Moore and Billy Bob Thornton Have History: ‘I Love That Girl’

Demi Moore returns in Landman Season 2, this time playing a grieving widow who teams up with Billy Bob Thornton’s Texas oilman, Tommy Norris.

But this duo actually shared the screen long before now — and according to Thornton, who couldn’t help but gush about Moore, their connection runs deep.

“Demi and I have known each other for a long time, actually for 35 years,” Thornton told People.

“I love that girl. She’s beautiful and amazing and so talented,” he added. “And I’m blessed to be with all these people in this show, frankly.”

Thornton explained that he first met Moore while filming three movies with her ex-husband Bruce Willis. “She used to bring the kids out to the set and everything, and they knew my kids when they were little,” he said.

Back in 1993, Thornton even had a small role in Moore’s hit film Indecent Proposal.

During his appearance on Live With Mark and Kelly, Thornton shared that Moore insists she remembers him being in that movie. “The first time I reminded her of that, years ago, she said, ‘Oh, yeah, that’s right,’ and I was like, ‘No.’”

Thornton doubled down, telling Kelly and Mark, “She didn’t remember that,” noting they were in the same scenes — he just had a small part.

He repeated that the real reason their friendship formed was through Bruce Willis: “I did three movies with Bruce, her ex-husband, and Bruce and I were close. She used to bring the girls to the set all the time, and that’s how we got to know each other. So I saw those kids grow up, and now they’re all adults.”

Thornton told People that their decades-long history has made working together even more natural.

“Over the years, you just become friends, and you know, to be able to see her on a daily basis has been wonderful,” he shared. “Anytime anything weird happens on set or something breaks or whatever… we just look at each other, and it’s like… we have this unspoken language. We can just give each other a look and know exactly what it means.”

Moore opened up about her Landman role during a panel, explaining that her storyline begins with her character deep in grief. She shared that her character is determined to ensure her late husband “is never forgotten.”

According to Moore, “a fair amount of calamity” hits Cami throughout the season. “It’s not the lightest season,” she added.
