Fetty Wap’s Prison Release Pushed Up Once More, Now Scheduled for December 2026

Fetty Wap will be heading home earlier than expected, as his prison release date has been moved up once again — this time by another month, setting him up to spend Christmas with his loved ones.

Us Weekly reports that Fetty is now slated for release on December 8, 2026, an improvement from the previously updated date of January 8, 2027. Just two months ago, his original March 13, 2027 release was bumped up by two months. The reason for this newest change hasn’t been disclosed.

Federal Bureau of Prisons records show the “Trap Queen” rapper is currently serving time at FCI Sandstone, a low-security federal prison in Minnesota.

Fetty’s legal issues began in October 2021, when he was arrested on federal drug trafficking charges. Prosecutors alleged that he and five others transported and distributed over 100 kilograms of heroin, fentanyl, and other drugs throughout Long Island.

He first pleaded not guilty and was released on a $500,000 bond, but that release was revoked in August 2022 after he was accused of flashing a firearm and threatening to kill an unnamed man during a FaceTime call. He later entered a guilty plea to conspiracy to distribute and possess cocaine.

In May 2023, Fetty was sentenced to six years in federal prison. Prosecutors argued that Maxwell used his fame to “glamorize the drug trade,” citing lyrics in which he referenced cooking and selling drugs.

During his sentencing, Fetty expressed remorse for the damage he caused to his family and community, telling the court, “I hurt my community, people who look up to me, my family and myself. I am truly sorry for any pain I caused.”

Judge Joanna Seybert criticized him for throwing away the success he had earned after rising from a challenging upbringing.
