Tory Lanez and his attorney have been held in contempt of court after he refused to answer questions during a deposition tied to Megan Thee Stallion’s defamation lawsuit against Milagro Gramz.
According to a legal order, Lanez and his lawyer, Crystal Morgan, were cited for contempt over their behavior during a Nov. 14 deposition.
Lanez asked what would happen if he refused to answer any questions. Once he learned he could be held in contempt, sanctioned, or even face more jail time, he replied, “Whatever the fines are, I’ll pay them. I’m a millionaire. I don’t care.”
He then told Megan’s lawyers to “calm down” and “relax,” called one of them a “liar,” and walked out of the room—claiming he hadn’t been shown all of the exhibits Megan’s team planned to use. Lanez eventually came back, argued with Megan’s lawyer again, and left the room a second time, throwing insults and refusing to continue the deposition.
As for Morgan’s role, the order says Lanez’s attorney repeatedly objected to questions about Lanez’s communications with Gramz, even though they were “clearly relevant to the proceeding.”
“She engaged in lengthy speaking objections, coaching the witness, and continued to do so after she was requested to stop,” the order states. “Even after her objections were ruled upon, she did not once instruct her client to answer Plaintiff’s questions.”
The order also details two previous failed deposition attempts. The first lasted just 44 minutes because Lanez “behaved inappropriately and personally insulted the attorney taking the deposition.”
During the second attempt, he told prosecutors, “I’ve got jail for 10 years right now. You can do whatever you’d like to do,” after hearing the consequences of refusing to cooperate.
Megan’s defamation case heads to trial on Nov. 17. In October, Lanez filed a protective order asking to be excused from any further questioning in the lawsuit.
