Kim Kardashian’s newest TV project, All’s Fair, may have taken a beating from critics, but one of her most esteemed co-stars is now chiming in — with a blend of honesty, elegance, and a hint of shade.
In a new interview with Variety, Glenn Close didn’t try to dress things up. She said Kardashian “had no pretensions that she was a great actress.”
Close delivered the comment in a straightforward way — echoing what many critics have said — while making it clear that the reality star isn’t pretending to be something she’s not. The Hulu drama, which reunites Kardashian with American Horror Story: Delicate co-creator Ryan Murphy, became one of the platform’s most-watched scripted debuts despite earning a zero percent score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Even so, Close pointed out there was more to Kardashian’s performance than the headlines suggested. She praised the 45-year-old’s dedication, noting she was impressed by Kardashian’s “seriousness of intent.” Close added, “She always knew her lines. She never was late. She always was prepared.”
Close also mentioned that Kardashian intentionally surrounded herself with powerhouse actors, saying, “She was smart enough to have people around her who she could learn from.”
That group included Sarah Paulson, Naomi Watts, Teyana Taylor, and Niecy Nash-Betts — all of whom described Kardashian as kind, collaborative, and committed on set.
The admiration among the cast went both ways. Earlier this year, Close said she chose not to offer Kardashian acting advice — not because she didn’t want to, but out of respect. “I would not presume to give Kim Kardashian advice,” she said at the time. “I think she’s a very, very brilliant woman. I think she could choose to do anything she wants.”
Close also praised Kardashian’s accomplishments beyond entertainment — from her businesses to motherhood to law school — calling her “a great executive” with “huge potential” no matter what direction she takes next.
Kardashian has not publicly responded to Close’s latest remarks.
