Wayne Barrow, who helped manage the Notorious B.I.G.’s estate alongside Voletta Wallace, is shutting down claims that Diddy used Biggie’s own money to pay for his funeral.
Loren Lorosa of The Breakfast Club reached out to Barrow to address allegations made in the 50 Cent–produced Netflix documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning. One of the biggest claims came from Kirk Burrowes, who said Diddy used Biggie’s money to cover the 1997 funeral costs. Barrow — who officiated the service and planned it with Burrowes — said that’s completely false.
According to Barrow, Diddy and Bad Boy Records paid for the funeral in full, and Biggie’s estate never saw funeral expenses on any royalty statements. He noted that he personally reviewed every statement with Voletta Wallace up until her passing earlier this year at 72. He also emphasized there were no contract disputes or tension at the time of Biggie’s death.
Regarding the claim that Diddy blocked Biggie from getting a Rolling Stone story after he died, Barrow said he couldn’t speak deeply on it — but as far as he knows, the estate was never presented with a potential cover story from the magazine.
Diddy’s reps have dismissed the documentary as a “hit piece” targeting the disgraced rapper and music executive, who is currently serving 50 months in prison on two prostitution charges. The film includes interviews with jurors from his trial, former Danity Kane members, and several sex workers who claim they were hired by him.
