50 Cent just handed his longtime rival Diddy a backhanded compliment after months of relentless trolling aimed at the disgraced music mogul.
Appearing on MS Now’s The Beat With Ari Melber, the rapper and media powerhouse didn’t hold back when discussing Diddy — who was sentenced to 50 months with time served in October after being convicted on two Mann Act violations. Earlier this week, Netflix also debuted the four-part docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning, which 50 executive produced.
During the conversation with Melber and Reckoning director Alexandria Stapleton, Fif was asked to name his favorite hero and villain. While he didn’t consider any of his idols “heroes,” the villain category was an easy pick.
“I have a lot of guys that I look up to, their accomplishments,” 50 said. “But I wouldn’t call them my heroes.”
When it came to choosing his favorite villain, the Get Rich or Die Tryin’ legend went straight to his longtime adversary — though he denied having beef with him. “My favorite villain? I kind of like Diddy,” he said with a grin.
Although there’s a long history of 50 Cent clowning Diddy and mocking his legal troubles across social media, he insisted elsewhere in the interview that there’s no real “beef” between them.
“They’ll say we had beef for 20 years, but I have had hired both of his sons for different projects that I’ve worked on, both two different television shows, Quincy [Brown] and Justin [Combs],” he explained. “So I don’t have that energy towards him, where we trying to hurt each other.”
Ahead of Netflix’s premiere of The Reckoning, Fif also insisted on Good Morning America that the project isn’t a personal jab at Diddy.
“What they consider a preexisting beef, for 20 years… [It’s] me being uncomfortable with him suggesting that he takes me shopping,” he told GMA anchor Robin Roberts. “It was like a tester. Like, ‘Maybe you’ll come play with me.’ And… It’s not personal.”
