Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez are reportedly growing closer than ever — and those around them are beginning to question whether the longtime friends have stepped into something more.
According to SheKnows, Lopez supposedly contacted the country star soon after news surfaced about his split from Nicole Kidman.
“She reached out to Keith the moment she heard he and Nicole had broken up,” the outlet claimed. “She wanted to show support and check in.”
Both stars know firsthand what it feels like to endure a breakup under a spotlight. Lopez finalized her divorce from Ben Affleck earlier this year after their very public reunion fell apart, and Urban has been dealing with the end of his 19-year marriage to Kidman after she filed for divorce in late September.
According to insiders, Lopez’s compassion really resonated with Urban. “A lot of people did that for her when she and Ben split, and it meant everything,” the report noted. “Keith has been extremely grateful for her support. Plenty of people have taken Nicole’s side, so J.Lo’s kindness has stood out.”
Lopez and Urban have known each other for nearly a decade, having worked together as judges on American Idol alongside Harry Connick Jr. during the mid-2010s.
“They always shared a lot of laughs during their Idol days, and that chemistry is still very much there,” the report added. “People are starting to wonder if something more might be bubbling up.”
For now, those close to both of them insist things remain friendly. “Mostly, they’re just sending each other supportive messages and funny memes,” the report said. “But that hasn’t stopped people from imagining the possibility of something more.”
The renewed curiosity also comes as Urban finds himself under scrutiny for another recent moment on tour.
Just days before Kidman filed for divorce, Urban switched up the lyrics to “The Fighter” — a song originally written for Kidman — swapping in a reference to his 25-year-old guitarist, Maggie Baugh.
The lyric “When they’re tryna get to you, baby, I’ll be the fighter” became “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player.”
Baugh later shared the moment on Instagram with the caption, “Did he just say that,” adding even more fuel to speculation that Urban’s post-divorce chapter may already be getting complicated.
