Meek Mill is giving Young Thug his flowers — and doing it right on his home turf.
While hitting the stage at Thugger’s show in Philadelphia this past week, Meek paused the performance to reflect on how much Thug held him down during one of the roughest chapters of his career: his very public feud with Drake.
Meek explained that, at the time, much of the industry backed away, with artists reluctant to work with him or even stand beside him publicly. But Young Thug wasn’t one of those people.
“I tell this n***a every time I see him, when I was beefing with Drake, n***as was acting like they were scared to do a verse with me,” Meek told the crowd, before breaking down just how solid Thug really was.
“This n***a pulled up to my house while I’m on house arrest two days straight,” Meek continued. “[Thug] got with me, pulled my confidence right back up, locked right in. So Philly, make some fucking noise for Young Thug in this bitch.”
The moment set off loud cheers, giving fans a rare look at Meek’s vulnerable side as he opened up about how isolating that era truly was — and how Thug’s loyalty helped him get through it. His tribute also hits deeper now, with Young Thug still dealing with the fallout of the YSL RICO case, making the public salute even more meaningful for supporters who’ve watched his legal battles play out.
Meek’s shoutout adds another chapter to the long-standing respect between the two, who’ve consistently backed each other and linked up musically over the years.
They delivered “We Ball” on Meek’s Wins & Losses — one of the most emotional tracks in his catalog. Thug also popped up on “Offended” from Meek’s DC4, and the duo reunited again on “That Go!” with T-Shyne. Fans have always praised their chemistry, a mix of Meek’s gritty energy and Thug’s wild, melodic unpredictability.
