A woman convicted of manslaughter in the 2024 killing of Florida rapper Julio Foolio will now be sentenced later than originally planned.
Alicia Andrews was found guilty of manslaughter in October after an eight-day trial, though she was not convicted of first-degree murder.
Prosecutors accused Andrews and several others of trailing Foolio, 26, to multiple spots on the day he was shot and killed. While the remaining defendants are set to go to trial next year, Andrews was initially expected to be sentenced in a Florida courtroom on Monday (Dec. 8).
But the sentencing didn’t happen as scheduled. Court TV reported that Andrews’ legal team, who noted she could face up to 15 years in prison, filed a motion days earlier asking the court to be removed from “any further participation” in the case. They also requested that her sentencing be postponed.
According to court documents obtained by Complex, Andrews’ lawyers are seeking to have Judge Michelle Sisco taken off the case.
Andrews’ attorney Jeremy McLymont said the team asked for a delay in sentencing “to ensure that Ms. Andrews’ rights are protected.”
Prosecutors had previously claimed Foolio’s death was gang-related, a point McLymont pushed back on during his closing arguments in October.
“The state sees Alicia as some gangster queenpin,” he said at the time. “They see her as someone who has bright red hair [and] bad tattoos who hangs out with gangbangers, gang members, gang associates; an individual who’s cold and heartless. But perception is not reality. … Alicia Andrews is an individual, a young individual, a young woman. She’s well-spoken, she’s mild-mannered, she’s brave, she’s strong, and she’s a respectable woman as you saw when she took the stand. She is not a gang member. She is not a gang associate.”
