Michael B. Jordan is spending much of his time behind the camera these days, but in a recent sit-down with David Letterman, the actor revealed he’s also thinking about what life could look like once things calm down—especially when it comes to having kids.
Jordan appears on Season 6 of Netflix’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, filmed in London as the 38-year-old balances acting in and directing a reimagined version of The Thomas Crown Affair. Their conversation unfolded in a cozy London pub, complete with darts and beers.
At one point, Jordan admits his day-to-day life isn’t all that exciting. “My life is boring,” he tells Letterman, noting that directing requires nonstop attention.
Letterman fires back with a dry joke: “You think it’s boring, you ought to follow me around.”
The host then dives into the ordinary parts of his own married life—his wife, his dogs, even picking up celery. Jordan acknowledges that his schedule doesn’t leave much room for a social life, but says he isn’t closed off to what the future might hold. In fact, he’s already thinking about starting a family—just taking it slow.
“I want to start out small,” Jordan says. “I want a kid. I want children.” He laughs as he explains his approach: “I figure I got to start off with like plants and dogs.”
For him, the plan is practical. “If I can take care of a plant, I can take care of the dog,” he says. “If the dog’s cool, then I have a shot.”
While Jordan has mentioned before that he stepped back from dating to concentrate on his career, fatherhood is still something he sees in his future—even if he’s not rushing into it.
Jordan’s episode of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman lands on Netflix when Season 6 premieres on December 16, 2025.
