Cardi B wants Saudi Arabia to know she’ll be on her best behavior when she touches down to perform at this weekend’s Soundstorm Festival.
During an Instagram Live on Wednesday (Dec. 10), ahead of her trip to Riyadh, the Am I the Drama? rapper joked about showing up as the ideal, rule-abiding guest.
“I like everything duty free, tax free, discount free,” she joked at the 6:46 mark of the Instagram Live while talking about her plans to shop once she lands.
“Let me tell you something, Saudi Arabia,” she continued. “I like discounts. I like duty free. I like tax free. I like gifts. I like shopping. I like everything.”
Then she flipped the bit: “I don’t like alcohol. I don’t like nothing. I don’t like none of that … I follow all the rules. I am a good woman.”
Cardi kept the joke going, listing all the things she supposedly avoids: “I don’t like cigarettes. I don’t like weed. I don’t like hookah. I don’t like nothing. I don’t like any of that stuff. I don’t like nothing.”
She wrapped it up by pointing to her outfit: “I’m all covered up. You see? See? Nothing. And if y’all want, I’ll put gloves on. And I got socks. You can’t even see my ankles.”
According to Bloomberg, Saudi Arabia recently relaxed rules around alcohol by allowing non-Muslim foreign residents who earn at least $13,300 a month to purchase it — part of an effort to make Riyadh more attractive for business and investment.
While the country has regulations on tobacco products, cannabis remains strictly illegal. LeafWell notes that possessing cannabis for personal use “could earn imprisonment for up to six months, potentially with whippings for first offenses.”
Cardi B is scheduled to hit the Soundstorm Festival stage on Saturday (Dec. 13).
