Russell Simmons is clapping back after his ex, Kimora Lee Simmons, claimed she doesn’t have a relationship with any of her children’s fathers — a comment that’s stirred up new friction between the former pair.
The Def Jam co-founder spoke out online after a People interview featuring Kimora started making the rounds. In the interview, the fashion icon opened up about her personal life and co-parenting experiences, saying she has no ongoing relationships with her kids’ fathers and adding that “guys are weird.”
Simmons disagreed with her take and fired off a lengthy response, challenging Kimora’s version of events. In a Threads post, he claimed he financially supported her with $50,000 a month for 20 years and described himself as her “best and only friend” throughout that time. He also stated he is the godfather to three of her other children.

Simmons says things between them fell apart after he accused Kimora of taking stock he insists belonged to him — a dispute he claims has left him battling for access to his kids and fighting to stay financially afloat. He also alleged that he was threatened with losing contact with his children if he pursued legal action. He ended his post by reminding followers, “There are two sides to every story.”
Kimora has not publicly addressed Simmons’ newest accusations. The pair, who married in 1998 and divorced in 2009, share two daughters and have a long, complicated public history filled with legal battles and clashing accounts of their relationship and family life.
