Mariah the Scientist has marriage on her mind.
The Hearts Sold Separately singer, who’s currently dating Young Thug, opened up about wanting to get married during a conversation with Angie Martinez on Saturday (December 13). Mariah, 28, has been with Thugger, 34, since 2021 — the same year they teamed up on the song “Walked In.”
Around the eight-minute mark of the video below, the R&B star shared that she’s ready to “settle down.”
“I want to be married,” Mariah said. “I can’t speak for everybody but that’s what I’m doing.”
Mariah went on to say she wants “at least one” child. “I’ll start with that and see how I can manage,” she added, before breaking down why marriage is so important to her.
“I just want a commitment that doesn’t involve an obligation to a baby,” Mariah said. “I just want it to be out of love, not out of responsibility.”
Mariah, who reunited with Young Thug in October after a short split, has already stepped into a stepmom role with his six children. During an August visit to Hot 97, she admitted it once would’ve been a “dealbreaker” to date a man with kids — until she met Thug.
“I feel like we have great relationships,” Mariah told Hot 97’s Nessa Diab. “I feel like we talk on the phone all day long. They be calling me before they call him and I’m like, ‘Call your daddy.’”
