Snoop Dogg is adding his trademark flair and holiday vibes to the NFL this Christmas Day.
The rap legend and pop culture fixture has been tapped as the halftime performer for the Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings game on Dec. 25, part of Netflix’s first-ever NFL Christmas Gameday streaming event.
The show, officially dubbed “Snoop’s Holiday Halftime Party,” will go down in Minneapolis during the nationally streamed matchup.
Netflix says the performance will mix Snoop Dogg’s biggest records with surprise guest appearances and a festive touch, creating a celebratory moment for football fans tuning in on Christmas afternoon.
“NFL, Netflix and your uncle Snoop on Christmas Day?” Snoop said in a statement. “We’re servin’ up music, love and good vibes for the whole world to enjoy. That’s the kind of holiday magic Santa can’t fit in a bag.”
Earlier this week, Netflix also dropped a teaser for the halftime show narrated by funk icon George Clinton. In the clip, Clinton delivers the line “bow wow wow, yippie yo yippie yay,” a lyric from his 1982 solo classic “Atomic Dog” that Snoop has famously woven into his own music.
Once rooted mainly in West Coast gangsta rap, Snoop Dogg has grown into one of the most familiar and well-loved personalities in mainstream entertainment. Just in recent days, he’s popped up as a judge on The Voice and provided the voiceover for the intro to Monday Night Football, further proving his wide-ranging appeal.
His holiday track record runs just as deep. Over the years, Snoop has dropped several Christmas-themed projects, including “Santa Claus Goes Straight to the Ghetto,” the Christmas in Tha Dogghouse compilation, and the single “Doggy Dogg Christmas.”
Netflix’s Christmas Day NFL lineup will feature two matchups. The Dallas Cowboys take on the Washington Commanders earlier in the day, with Kelly Clarkson performing before kickoff, followed by the Lions–Vikings game at 1:30 p.m. PST, which will include Snoop Dogg’s halftime performance.
