Making homemade holiday treats didn’t go exactly as planned for Chrissy Teigen, who ended up losing one of her front veneers in the process.
On Sunday (December 21), the model and media personality shared an Instagram reel that kicked off with her and the four children she shares with John Legend making candy canes, and wrapped up with her humorously revealing a missing veneer. The couple, who tied the knot in 2013, are parents to daughters Luna, 9, and Esti, 2, as well as sons Miles, 7, and Wren, 2.
After the kids crushed chocolate cookies to create “dirt” for flower pots where the candy canes would be “planted,” Teigen set the treats in the pots overnight to surprise them the next day. When she decided to taste one of the candies herself, things took an unexpected turn, and her veneer came off — a moment she shared following the DIY activity.
“I tried to open one of these bad boys. My tooth feel off,” Teigen said as she showed the gap. “It’s a veneer, I have a whole piece. This is what moms do for their kids so you can think you grew a candy cane.”
Teigen joked that she “tried to create magic” for her kids, only to end up missing a tooth in the process. With her schedule packed, she couldn’t rush to the dentist right away and instead headed to Miles’ winter recital, keeping a mask on between songs to hide the gap.
The video wrapped with Teigen flashing her gap-toothed grin beside the flower pots filled with candy canes.
Teigen previously spoke about her veneers in a 2016 interview with Refinery29, revealing that she had her natural teeth “shaved away” to create “pencil points for nice teeth.”
“I was a notorious teeth-grinder, so all my front teeth became a couple millimeters shorter,” Teigen explained at the time.
