Charlie Kirk Clip Calling Nicki Minaj a ‘Bad Role Model’ Resurfaces Following Turning Point Event

A previously recorded video of Charlie Kirk criticizing Nicki Minaj as a role model has resurfaced and is gaining traction after Minaj appeared at a Turning Point USA event alongside his widow, Erika Kirk, where she spoke positively about him.

The clip, filmed during a campus debate in April 2024, features Charlie arguing that Minaj was not a positive example for “18-year-old Black girls.”

However, Charlie appeared to mix her up with Cardi B, as he went on to complain about music that “glorifies wet female genitalia,” a remark that almost certainly referenced Cardi’s 2020 hit “WAP” featuring Megan Thee Stallion.

The old clip started making the rounds again after Minaj’s appearance at Turning Point’s AmericaFest event on Sunday (Dec. 21).

It’s still unclear whether Charlie’s opinion of the Pink Friday 2 rapper shifted before his death in September.

Adding to the confusion, conservative commentator Candace Owens tweeted in October about a past text exchange she had with Charlie back in March 2018. She shared screenshots showing Charlie praising Nicki’s now-iconic verse on Kanye West’s “Monster.”

“When Nicky drops I lose my mind,” one of Charlie’s texts read.

“She is THE best. I do my weights to that song,” Owens replied.

Minaj also had an awkward moment during her Q&A with Erika Kirk when she referred to JD Vance as “the assassin,” a nickname she’s used in the past when speaking about the VP.

She immediately froze after realizing what she had just said, especially since the comment came more than three months after Turning Point founder Charlie Kirk was fatally shot by a gunman on September 10.

Following the pause, Erika Kirk stepped in to calm the moment, reassuring her by saying, “Trust me, there’s nothing new under the sun that I have not heard, so you’re fine. You have to laugh about it. Truly, I have been called every single thing, and you know what? God is so good. You let it roll right off your back. And this is what’s so beautiful about this moment, because if the internet wants to clip it, who cares?

“I love this woman. She’s an amazing woman. She has a soul and a heart for the Lord. Words are words, but I know her heart, and it doesn’t even matter. And you say what you want to say, because I know your heart and I do not judge that.”
