Ray J says the holidays feel “different” this year now that he isn’t legally permitted to spend Christmas with his family.
On Thursday, the R&B singer took to Instagram with a reflective reel, noting that he’s normally with his kids opening gifts. He also showed a before-and-after look at his Christmas tree.
“A lonely Christmas. No kids, no presents, no little feet running around — just a tree and the weight of missing what matters most. I’m learning the hard way. I understand that not every lesson comes gently. Life teaches in many ways. I’m listening,” he wrote in the caption.
On Dec. 20, Ray J reacted to a judge’s decision barring him from seeing his children during the holidays or on his son’s birthday. “Man, I don’t even want to talk about it,” Ray J told reporters. “I’m missing my kids. I’m missing Christmas, my son’s birthday.”
The 44-year-old is currently under a no-contact restraining order after being arrested last month for allegedly pointing a gun at his estranged wife, Princess Love, during a livestream. Ray J claimed he feared that Princess and her family were trying to take their children, 7-year-old Melody and 5-year-old Epik. He was later released on $50,000 bail and denied ever aiming a weapon at Princess, though the gun briefly appeared on camera during the livestream. The restraining order has since been extended.
