No, Nicki Minaj Didn’t Deactivate Her Instagram Following the Turning Point USA Event

Nicki Minaj has been in the spotlight following her appearance at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest.

On Dec. 21, the Pink Friday 2 rapper took the stage alongside Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika, where she touched on a range of topics — from her growing involvement in politics to Gavin Newsom, her recent United Nations speech in which she spoke about the persecution of Christians in Nigeria, and her admiration for Donald Trump.

Despite reports from several major outlets, including People, The Independent, and The New York Post, claiming that Nicki deactivated her Instagram account due to backlash from the event, that doesn’t seem to be accurate.

Back in the fall, Billboard reported that Minaj deactivated her Instagram on Oct. 20. She didn’t give a reason at the time, but she was — and still is — active on X, where she currently has more than 25.6 million followers.

After stepping away from Instagram, Minaj stayed highly active on X, posting an AI-generated image of Jay-Z wearing a pink wig, taking shots at Charlamagne Tha God, and claiming that Gucci Mane’s wife, Keyshia Ka’Oir, has been “trying” to emulate her “for years.” Minaj has had on-and-off feuds with all three figures for quite some time.

As for her appearance at AmericaFest, it caught many by surprise. The Queens native has been increasingly vocal about conservative views, recently pushing back against Newsom’s stance on trans children, speaking openly about her political involvement, and sharing more of her evolving perspective.
