Jennifer Lopez Quips “You’d Be Naked Too” as She Fires Back at Critics

Jennifer Lopez launched her new Las Vegas residency with a show that also served as her response to how she’s often viewed by the public.

On opening night at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on December 30, Lopez briefly stopped the performance to address ongoing criticism about her appearance — including comments that she’s “always naked” and doesn’t “dress her age.”

“It is funny, I do laugh at some of the things sometimes,” Lopez told the audience before rattling off the kinds of comments she says trail her online: “Why does she smile when she takes pictures like that? Why does she always dress that way? Why doesn’t she dress her age?” She then capped the moment with the night’s most viral line, shimmying and joking, “If you had this booty, you’d be naked too.”

Still, the pushback Lopez has faced in recent years appears to go beyond her looks or stage outfits.

According to The Independent, much of the criticism ramped up earlier this year after she released her self-funded documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told, which accompanied her album and film project This Is Me… Now.

While the documentary was promoted as a deep dive into self-love and personal evolution, it quickly drew scrutiny from viewers who felt it offered an overly polished and inward-looking version of her life.

Several clips spread rapidly on TikTok, including one where Lopez reflects on being “16 in the Bronx,” a moment that reignited debates over the authenticity of her long-running “Jenny from the Block” image.

Critics were quick to note that Lopez attended private school in Throggs Neck, with many arguing the film leaned more on mythology than transparency — revisiting failed marriages and heartbreak without fully unpacking what actually went wrong.

The project also resurfaced long-standing industry rumors that have followed Lopez for years, including claims that she’s difficult behind the scenes and dismissive toward people she deems professionally beneath her.

Those narratives gained more traction after comments from her first husband, Ojani Noa, who spoke out in October following Lopez’s appearance on The Howard Stern Show.

In an Instagram post, Noa accused Lopez of infidelity during their brief marriage in the late 1990s and pushed back against her suggestion that the men in her past were incapable of loving her.

“The problem is not us. Not me. The problem is you,” Noa wrote, claiming he was “honest, faithful,” and alleging that Lopez chose fame over their relationship. He also said he ended the marriage due to “constant lying” and implied that Lopez cheated on him with Diddy before their split was finalized.
