Island Boys rapper Franky Venegas kicked off the new year with an arrest, and the incident was reportedly tied to drugs.
TMZ reports that the 24-year-old rapper and social media figure, also known as Kodiyakredd, was stopped by police in Naples, Florida, during a routine traffic stop on Wednesday (December 31). Venegas was driving at the time and had a female passenger in the car.
During the New Year’s Eve arrest, officers allegedly discovered “unprescribed Zolpidem tartrate” inside a bag belonging to the woman, along with a substance that reportedly tested positive for fentanyl. Authorities claim the drug residue was found on a debit card and a cut straw that Venegas had in his possession.
Since the holiday, Venegas has remained behind bars without bond at Collier County Jail, as he was already out on bond from a previous arrest in February. At that time, the content creator was taken into custody on charges related to possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of a modified firearm.
Meanwhile, Venegas’ twin brother and fellow Island Boys member Flyysoulja—born Alex Venegas—has also faced recent legal issues, largely tied to his mental health. Last November, he was detained under Florida’s Baker Act after experiencing what he described as a psychotic episode, which he said was triggered by “multiple substances like pills.”
“In the psychosis, I was trying to find something for my hair for hours, and destroyed the home while unknowingly being on Live,” he explained during an Instagram Live at the time.
Flyysoulja also reportedly left his rental property in disarray, according to his landlord, Andy Zamudio. “He got a three-day notice on November 7. That’s the night he got Baker Acted,” Zamudio told TMZ. “I don’t know if he got crazy because of that… he was telling me he was in Mexico [and] he couldn’t pay rent.”
