Marlon Wayans Says He’s Considering 50 Cent for His Next Film: “He Could Be an Incredible Star”

Marlon Wayans says he’s open to teaming up with 50 Cent, even after their recent back-and-forth online.

During Sunday’s episode of the We in Miami Podcast, the 53-year-old comedian and filmmaker described himself as a “workaholic,” explaining that staying busy helps him avoid “doing stupid stuff.”

“You ain’t never gonna read, ‘Marlon did dumb shit,’ aside beefing with 50 Cent,” the Scary Movie creator joked around the 28:57 mark of the episode.

Wayans said the tension between him and the rapper didn’t last long, noting that it escalated briefly after he mentioned “karma” last month while reacting to 50 Cent’s involvement in the Netflix docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning.

“It was very quick for me,” Wayans said. “I was having a cigar and thinking about it like, ‘What example do I want? Is this two Black men with two businesses fighting in public?’ That’s not good for my culture. That’s not what I want to represent. I want to build businesses, not burn them down.”

He added that he’s willing to “gratefully [and] gracefully lose a battle to win the bigger picture,” pointing out that Black people and other minorities already face enough challenges.

Wayans also downplayed the situation, saying there was “never beef like that,” and described it as “just two n****s on the block.”

“The bigger picture is we’re two successful businessmen,” he explained. “Why are we beefing? … I was really trying to stop two Black men from going at it, and you just get caught up in the moment.”

When asked if he’d be open to working with 50 Cent if he reached out, Wayans didn’t hesitate.

“I’m already thinking about putting him in my next movie,” he said. “I’ve got some action stuff in the works. I think he could be an incredible star. It’d be a great mix. It’d be fun to see us together.

“A buddy action comedy with me and this n***a,” he added. “That’s how you flip it—use it as a springboard and turn it into something people actually want to see.”

Wayans and 50 Cent’s brief feud included AI-generated images and petty jabs on social media. In a separate interview with KTLA, Wayans said advice from his family group chat played a big role in his decision to move past it.
