YoungThreat, Who Appeared on Kendrick Lamar’s GNX, Faces Murder Charges

YoungThreat, a Los Angeles rapper featured on Kendrick Lamar’s 2024 album GNX, is now facing several felony charges, including murder and attempted murder, based on newly surfaced court records.

The artist, whose real name is Deonta Simuel, was taken into custody on Dec. 16 in connection to a shooting that allegedly happened around Oct. 14 in California.

Although the case itself isn’t new, documents recently obtained and shared by No Jumper have sparked renewed attention and widespread coverage.

Despite early claims circulating online, YoungThreat is being held without bail — not on a $4 million bond — according to current court records. He is set to return to court on Jan. 22, though officials have yet to release detailed information about the alleged incident.

Court documents show that YoungThreat is facing a murder charge connected to the Oct. 14 incident. Prosecutors have also added enhancements, alleging one or more prior serious or violent felony convictions, along with a prior serious felony enhancement.

The rapper is also charged with attempted murder tied to the same October incident, again accompanied by the same prior-conviction enhancements. An additional charge accuses him of firing a weapon at an inhabited dwelling or vehicle.

Records further indicate a charge for being a felon in possession of a firearm. YoungThreat has entered not-guilty pleas on all counts.

YoungThreat gained wider recognition after appearing on the title track of GNX, Kendrick Lamar’s highly anticipated 2024 album. The song also featured Hitta J3 and Peysoh, with production handled by Sounwave, Jack Antonoff, Kenny & Billy, Tobias “Rascal” Breuer, and Tim Maxey. The track peaked at No. 24 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking a major breakthrough moment for the rapper.

After the album’s release, YoungThreat dropped It Gets Greater Later in December 2024, followed by Reincarnated in April 2025, further cementing his emergence within the Los Angeles rap scene.

YoungThreat’s representatives have not issued any public statements regarding the case. For now, he remains in custody without bail as the legal process moves forward.
