Bruno Mars Claps Back at Troll Criticizing New Single: “U Never Been Sh*t”

Bruno Mars made it clear he’s not here for social media criticism — especially when it comes to his new music.

On Friday (January 9), the pop superstar released the first single from his upcoming fourth studio album, The Romantic, marking his first solo project since 2016. After a clip from the music video began circulating online, one critic claimed his sound hasn’t evolved.

“He’s been releasing the same song for the past 10 years,” the user wrote on X, prompting a blunt response from Mars: “And u never been shit in yo life.”

The sharp clapback arrives shortly after Mars announced that he and his Silk Sonic partner Anderson .Paak will be hitting the road together in April. The tour is set to cover nearly 40 cities, with dates across the United States, Europe, and Canada.

Select shows will feature support from Victoria Monét, Raye, and Leon Thomas, and .Paak has hinted that fans might also see him step into his DJ Pee .Wee alter ego during the run.

While fans have been waiting years for a follow-up to 24K Magic, Mars has stayed far from quiet. Beyond Silk Sonic’s 2021 album An Evening with Silk Sonic, he’s teamed up on several major collaborations, including “APT.” with Rosé and “Die With a Smile” alongside Lady Gaga. He also wrapped up a massive headlining tour that kicked off in 2022, spanning 58 shows and ending in late 2024.

With The Romantic set to arrive next month, expectations are sky-high — and history suggests Mars will deliver. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), his breakout hit “Just the Way You Are” was certified 21-times Platinum last year, officially becoming the most certified single of all time.
