Yaya Mayweather is making it clear that her ex, NBA YoungBoy, is actively involved in their son’s life.
Earlier this week, Iyanna “Yaya” Mayweather — the eldest daughter of Floyd Mayweather Jr. — tweeted that the MASA rapper didn’t financially contribute to the birthday celebration of their five-year-old son, Kentrell Gaulden Jr., also known as “KJ.”
“You giving hoes money to go shopping and buying hoes jewelry, but still haven’t given me money for my son’s birthday party,” Mayweather tweeted on Wednesday (January 7). “You know who paid for my son’s birthday party? MY DAD!!!!!!”
Many took the post as a direct jab at YoungBoy, who reportedly has around twelve children with multiple women, including Mayweather.
However, Mayweather later clarified the situation in an Instagram Story, explaining that the tweet stemmed from ongoing “personal issues” between her and the rapper.
“Emotions were high and we weren’t seeing eye to eye, but that doesn’t justify it,” she wrote. “I reacted out of frustration and I own that.”
Mayweather went on to say she wanted to “set the record straight” after previously suggesting YoungBoy wasn’t “helping” with Kentrell Jr.
“He does help,” she wrote. “Whenever I ask him for anything, no matter what it is… even if it’s for me, he makes it happen. We talked, and he told me he would reimburse the money that was spent on our son’s birthday. I got upset because it wasn’t happening as fast as I wanted, and I let my emotions get the best of me.”
She added that she and YoungBoy are still “learning how to co-parent in a healthy way” for their son’s well-being and their own “peace.”
“Our disagreements and emotions are not for the internet,” she wrote. “And I apologize to him and to anyone who got pulled into something that should’ve remained between two parents.”
As the former couple continues to work through their issues, YoungBoy is reportedly expecting his third child with his wife, Jazyln Mychelle.
