A$AP Rocky Clarifies New Video Isn’t AI — Says It’s “Generational”

A$AP Rocky made it clear that his latest music video for “Helicopter” is all about vision, not artificial intelligence — and he says it’s “generational.”

The Harlem rapper dropped his first music video of 2026 on Monday (January 12), delivering the “Helicopter” visual packed with the trippy, animated style fans have come to associate with Rocky. As chatter spread online suggesting the video was AI-generated, Rocky quickly shut it down with a social media response shortly after the Dan Streit–directed clip went live.

“THIS VIDEO IS NOT Ai GENERATED! THIS VIDEO IS NOT Ai GENERATED!” Rocky wrote repeatedly, before adding, “JUST GENERATIONAL.”

An earlier version of the song, expected to land on Rocky’s fourth studio album, Don’t Be Dumb, included a feature from Playboi Carti. “Helicopter” arrives just a week after Rocky dropped the video for “Punk Rocky,” which starred actress Winona Ryder. The clip also featured appearances from Danny Elfman, Thundercat, and ASAP Nast. Ryder’s role further connects to Rocky’s collaboration with filmmaker Tim Burton, who contributed his creative vision to the Don’t Be Dumb album cover and previously cast Ryder in iconic films like Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands.

Well before unveiling the Tim Burton–illustrated cover art for Dumb last year, the rapper opened up to Billboard about the project, sharing that the famed director was fully on board with the music.

“He was rocking his head and he’s like, ‘Wow! I didn’t know you made that kind of music!’” Rocky recalled.
