Beyoncé officially joined the billionaire ranks last month, but according to her father, Mathew Knowles, money has never been a driving force for her.
In a recent interview with Page Six, Knowles said he’s “never” heard his superstar daughter focus on money, explaining that financial gain has never been her main motivation throughout her career.
“I’ve never heard Beyoncé ever talk about money … It’s always been, ‘How can I make my fans happy? How can I be the best at what I’m doing?’” he said. “Her money came with the success, but that has never been a goal of hers. And I love that about her.”
Beyoncé’s dominance on the global stage continues, with massive world tours — most recently the Cowboy Carter tour — solidifying her status as one of the most successful artists of all time. Beyond music, she’s also built thriving ventures like SirDavis whisky and Cécred haircare.
Knowles said he’s proud of everything his daughter has achieved but emphasized that her artistic impact matters more to her than the financial wins.
“That’s just not Beyoncé. That’s not who she is,” he said. “She’s motivated by being the very best. She’s motivated by making her fans happy and. giving back to the community as well.”
Last month, Forbes named Beyoncé the fifth musician to reach billionaire status, placing her alongside her husband Jay-Z, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, and Bruce Springsteen.
Her Renaissance World Tour in 2023 was a major money-maker, pulling in nearly $600 million, while the Cowboy Carter tour earned over $400 million. Merch sales from the tour brought in an additional $50 million, and she also earned $60 million from her 2019 Netflix documentary, Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé.
