Brooklyn Beckham, the eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham, has broken his silence amid growing rumors of serious family tension. In a string of fiery Instagram posts, the young Beckham accused his parents of trying to “ruin” his marriage to Nicola Peltz.
Since the 26-year-old tied the knot with the 31-year-old actress, his relationship with his parents has visibly unraveled. Fueling speculation of a rift, David Beckham rang in the New Year by acknowledging his other three children—Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 14—while Brooklyn was notably left out, with no mention or photo included.
In his posts, Brooklyn made it clear he has no interest in trying to “reconcile” with his parents. “I’m not being controlled. I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” he wrote.
He went on to add, “For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family. The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.”
Elsewhere, Brooklyn alleged that David and Victoria Beckham had “endlessly tried to ruin my relationship” long before he and Peltz ever got married. Among his claims was that Victoria abruptly pulled out of designing her daughter-in-law’s wedding dress at the last minute, along with accusations that his parents pressured him to sign away the rights to his name.
“They were adamant on me signing before my wedding date because then the terms of the deal would be initiated,” Brooklyn alleged. “My holdout affected the payday and they have never treated me the same since.”
He also claimed that tensions with his parents only worsened after he and Peltz tied the knot, saying he has faced “relentless attacks” both privately and through the media.
Brooklyn further alleged that his mother disrupted his wedding reception, writing, “My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song.” He recalled that Latin singer Marc Anthony called him and Peltz onto the stage for their first dance and claimed his mother danced “very inappropriately” with him. “I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life,” he added.
After stating that Peltz has been “constantly disrespected” by his parents, Brooklyn pushed back against claims that his wife “controls” him, calling that narrative “completely backwards.”
“I grew up with overwhelming anxiety,” he wrote. “For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared.”
Earlier this month, Page Six reported that Victoria Beckham appeared to reach out by reposting a childhood photo of Brooklyn and his father to her Instagram Stories.
“I love you all so much 🤍” David Beckham wrote in the post.
