Ray J is reflecting on what he described as a “crash out campaign” and says he’s ready to make some changes moving forward.
In a new video posted to his Instagram on Sunday (Jan. 18), just one day after celebrating his 45th birthday, the R&B singer expressed appreciation while hinting that a new chapter is on the way.
In the nearly two-minute video, Ray J thanked fans for their support and reflected on the past year, saying, “Thank y’all for the love today, man. God is good. Something’s new, something’s gonna change this year.” He went on to express appreciation for both praise and pushback, adding, “Sincerely, thank you for all your prayers. Thank you for all the love, all the criticism. Last year was a crazy year, it was a ‘crash out campaign.’ It was intense but God made it through and put us in the right position.”
He followed up by promising a noticeable shift going forward, telling fans, “I promise y’all, this is gonna be a really, really different wave that we on now. All jokes aside, I love y’all and I appreciate y’all, thank you.”
Ray J also took a moment to shout out his family for standing by him during what he described as a tough stretch. “Thank you to my family too, my mom, my dad, my sister, for having my back in this critical time. My sister came through for me, man, I needed her.”

In the caption, Ray J went deeper into what he said he’s been through over the last year, opening up about the struggles and taking responsibility for his actions. He shared how the experience humbled him and acknowledged the support that helped him get through it, writing, “I walked through a season meant to break me. Jail, sickness, silence, and loss all at once. I take full accountability for my mistakes. God still spared my life when I didn’t deserve it. That alone humbles me. My family covered me. Your prayers carried me.
He also touched on how his health forced a major lifestyle change and reflected on both supporters and doubters, closing with an emotional note about his children. “My health forced me to put the bottle down and face myself. To the ones who love me and the ones who counted me out, thank you. I love you – ON GOD – I miss my kids so much. I will be with you soon.”

Ray J’s sister Brandy also showed public support in the comments, posting a heartfelt message that read, “I love you so much bro and I’m here for you until the end -and after that [red heart emoji] God Bless you and your journey. We will get through everything together! #sis”
While Ray J didn’t spell out exactly what he meant by his “crash out campaign,” 2025 saw him in the headlines for several controversial moments. Those included a dispute with his estranged wife Princess Love that resulted in an arrest, a back-and-forth with Sexyy Red over claims he slept with her, and a strange rant where he said he no longer felt like Brandy’s brother. He also drew attention for attempting to shower with Kai Cenat during his “Mafiathon 3” stream and later offering IShowSpeed a similar “shower stream” idea.
More recently, Ray J made waves after claiming he’s slept with 10,000 people, calling out Beyoncé and Jay-Z for not taking a photo with Brandy backstage at the Boy Is Mine Tour, and saying he wasn’t invited to Diddy’s alleged “freak-off” parties because of his appearance.
Earlier this month, Ray J was hospitalized in Las Vegas for pneumonia and heart-related pain. TMZ reported that doctors performed X-rays and an echocardiogram. The health scare echoed a serious bout of pneumonia he suffered in 2021, which required oxygen and an inhaler before he fully recovered.
