IShowSpeed attempted to lift the mood of the internet’s so-called “angriest man in Nigeria” with an offer of cash, but the situation appeared to fall apart before any money was actually exchanged.
While livestreaming from Lagos on Wednesday (Jan. 21), the streamer crossed paths with a shirtless, muscular man wearing red sweatpants. The man later dubbed himself IShowStrength and loudly declared just how “angry” he was.
Around the 1-hour-and-19-minute mark of the livestream, the man declares that his “strength is my superpower” and that he was “born to be different,” before going on to bend a set of power twister bars.
Shortly after, the man hops into a car with Speed and his crew. His high-intensity energy continues during the ride, leading Speed to ask what it would take to calm him down.
“Bro, why are you always angry?” Speed asks around the 1:43:40 mark. “How do I make you happy?”
“You wanna make me happy?” the man repeatedly yells before breaking into an exaggerated laugh and then screaming. “You know what to do … You already know.”
“What about money? Does money make you happy?” Speed asks, causing the man to pause briefly before doubling down on his anger. “You want a girlfriend? I can get you a woman in Nigeria to make you happy… I can take you on a date in Nigeria, make you happy.”
The man instead tells Speed to give him $10,000, saying they can “start from there.” Covered in sweat from the heat, he repeatedly bangs on the roof of the car while continuing to insist that he’s still angry.
“I got something that’ll make you happy,” Speed says as he tries to calm things down, reaching back to grab a stack of cash from someone in his crew seated behind him. “Will this make you happy?”
The man asks how much money Speed is holding, estimating it to be about 50,000 Nigerian Naira — an amount the visibly sweaty and still-angry man clearly isn’t satisfied with.
“I told you $10,000 will make me happy, for you,” he yells. As the ride continues, he clarifies that he wants the money in U.S. dollars.
Speed checks in with his chat and later speaks with a member of his crew, who appears to tell him they don’t have that much cash on hand. Trying to meet the man halfway, Speed offers $1,000 USD.
That attempt goes nowhere. The man grows even more agitated, beating his chest and pushing back for $5,000 instead.
“Chat, we gotta make it five bro,” Speed says. “He’s greedy as hell.”
When the car finally arrives at their next stop, it appears that Speed never ends up giving the man any money at all.
Elsewhere during his Nigeria livestream, IShowSpeed marked his 21st birthday and hit a major milestone, surpassing 50 million subscribers on YouTube.
Fans can also catch other highlights from his Speed Does Africa Tour, including him sampling Nigerian jollof rice and sharing his thoughts on it, being handed a baby in Senegal, and gifting a blind child a new iPhone to help with its accessibility features.
