Ray J has shared a concerning update about his health after previously telling fans he “almost died.”
In clips making the rounds online, seemingly pulled from a recent stream, the 45-year-old said “2027 is definitely a wrap for me” and added that he believes his family will be okay no matter what happens.
“My baby mama gon’ be straight, my kids gon’ be straight,” he said in the footage. “If they wanna spend all the money, they can spend it, but I did my part here.”
In the same moment, Ray J also reflected on his past lifestyle choices, expressing regret.
“I shouldn’t have went this hard, bro,” he said. “I shouldn’t have went that hard. And then, when it’s all done, burn me. Don’t bury me.”
He went on to tell fans that he has a medical checkup coming up, noting that his parents will be going with him. Ray J also gave a shoutout to his sister Brandy, revealing that she had “paid my bills for the rest of the year.”
In another clip circulating from what appears to be the same stream, Ray J opened up about a phase in his life where he was drinking “four or five bottles” of alcohol a day, while also taking 10 Adderall pills at the same pace. According to the Love & Hip-Hop: Hollywood alum and Redemption artist, that lifestyle has left him with lasting damage, saying he has now “fucked my heart up on the right side.”
Going deeper, Ray J said he once felt invincible and believed he could handle anything, a mindset he now warns others against as he urged fans to prioritize their health.
“I fucked up,” he said. “I think I thought I was a bigger n***a, like, I had more weight. I thought I was a big n***a. So I’m like, I can handle all the alcohol. I can handle all the Adderall. I can handle all the drugs. I can handle everything. But I couldn’t. My shit fucked up, and it curbed my time. … I fucked my shit up real bad.”
Earlier, Ray J went on Instagram to share that he had “just almost died,” following reports earlier this month that he was hospitalized due to pneumonia and heart pain.
“I wanna thank everybody for praying for me,” he said in an IG video dated Jan. 25. “I was in the hospital. My heart’s only beating, like, 25 percent. But as long as I stay focused and stay on the right path, then everything will be alright. So thank you for all your prayers.”
