Bianca Censori has spoken publicly about the Venice water taxi incident involving Kanye West that sparked widespread speculation the couple were engaging in intimate behavior in public.
In 2023, photos taken in Italy showed Ye with his butt exposed while the pair were riding on a boat. In a new interview with Vanity Fair, Censori—who referred to herself as a “nepo wife,” meaning someone thrust into the spotlight because of their partner—said the moment was an early lesson in how little control she has over her public image.
“Your image is replicated without your consent all the time,” she said. “It’s replicated, it’s brought down, it’s picked apart, all those kind of things.”
Attention around the couple intensified after the Venice incident, with Ye’s exposed backside fueling online rumors that Censori was performing oral sex on him during the ride.
When asked if she was aware of what people believed happened, she replied, “Yes. That I gave a blowjob on the boat?”
Censori denied the claim, explaining that she was kneeling on a stool with her head resting on Ye’s lap, and noted that her aunt was also present on the boat. “It was the first time I was really embarrassed,” she said. “I felt embarrassed because of my dad.”
Over time, she said she’s become less affected by the speculation and scrutiny that comes with being married to one of the most controversial figures in the world. After the photos went viral, a spokesperson for Venezia Turismo Motoscafi stated that the boat driver did not witness any inappropriate behavior and would have removed the couple if he had.
The spokesperson added that there was a “third person on board the taxi,” believed to be Censori’s aunt, who “obstructed the captain’s view to the stern.” Despite the lack of evidence that any lewd acts occurred, West and Censori were reportedly given a lifetime ban from the water taxi service. “We completely dissociate ourselves from such acts and behavior,” the company said. “Mr West and his wife will certainly no longer be welcome on board our company’s boats.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Censori also pushed back against criticism of her revealing fashion choices, including her sheer bodysuit at the 2025 Grammys, saying they were artistic expressions rather than attempts to seek attention.
“I’ve never gone home and cried myself to sleep over anything anyone has said, because it interests me when the reaction is not the intention, because that’s just what lives within everybody,” she said. “I was explaining this to somebody once and he said, ‘Well, your intention was lost.’ It’s okay that the intention was lost. It doesn’t matter. I was able to express myself. That’s all that mattered.”
