Ice-T recently opened up about what’s helped keep his 25-year marriage to wife Coco Austin going strong during an appearance on Sherri.
The rapper and actor met Austin back in 2001 on a music video set, hit it off almost instantly, and tied the knot the following year. In 2015, they welcomed their daughter, Chanel, who is now 10.
Around the five-minute mark of the episode, host Sherri Shepherd asked Ice-T, 67, how he and Austin, 46, have managed to keep their relationship “sexy.” The Law & Order: SVU star described his wife as an “extrovert” and a “borderline exhibitionist.”
“She just loves herself,” he said, adding that Austin is a “fitness champion.” “She’s just been fortunate with good genes, and she looks good, and that’s just her—and I’m very happy about that.”
Austin began her career as a swimsuit model at 18 and also worked at the Playboy Mansion in the early 2000s.
“I don’t want to be that guy on the beach wearing a sweatshirt in the pool,” Ice-T said. “I never wanted people asking why she’s with him. So she keeps me slim in the waist and handsome in the face.”
Ice also compared choosing the right partner to “casting for a movie,” a point he previously touched on during a January appearance on the Prince St. Pizza podcast.
“But at the end of the day, you say, ‘I love you. You’re my partner,’” Ice shared, adding that he wants to spend “the rest of my life” with Austin.
During the Prince St. Pizza podcast, Ice described Austin as a “party girl” and made it clear that he’s not “intimidated” by her outgoing nature.
