Tony Yayo Shuts Down Picking Jay-Z’s Career Over 50 Cent’s: ‘You’re F*cking on Drugs’

Tony Yayo was clearly stunned when Alexx Media suggested he’d rather have Jay-Z’s career than 50 Cent’s.

During a recent episode of Andrew Schulz’s Flagrant podcast with Akaash Singh, Yayo found himself in a heated back-and-forth with Alexx Media while comparing 50 Cent’s album sales to Jay-Z’s. That’s when Alexx said, “The type of career I would want: Jay’s career over 50.”

“You’re fucking on drugs,” Yayo shot back around the 33:15 mark, instantly sending Schulz into laughter.

“I’m not gonna say you a Jay-Z glazer,” the G-Unit rapper and longtime 50 Cent associate said, prompting Alexx Media to clarify that he’s also a fan of the TV and entertainment mogul.

After joking that Alexx might be a “50 hater,” Yayo went on to explain why he strongly disagreed with choosing Jay-Z’s career. “He had a good presentation,” he said of Jay. “But when 50 Cent dropped, it felt like Tupac came back from the dead.”

Yayo also referenced a point 50 Cent recently made, saying, “Jay is smart enough to stand…next to the fire,” pointing to moments like the 2003 Roc the Mic Tour co-headlined by Jay and 50.

In a recent interview, 50 claimed Jay typically doesn’t collaborate with an artist until they’re “doing well enough to not need him” on a track. The G-Unit Records boss added that he treated his own signees like family, often reaching a point where he was “beating myself up looking out for them.”

Yayo noted that Jay-Z entered the rap game well before 50 Cent and G-Unit. While Get Rich or Die Tryin’ dropped in 2003, seven years after Jay’s debut album Reasonable Doubt, Hov still managed to release eight studio albums during that period.

“Jay was successful already. Nas, everybody, was successful,” Yayo said. “We came in the 2000s, later on down the line, and 50 has more success than a lot of motherfuckers, bro.”
